FAQs

Do I need a lawyer to start a business?

It’s not a legal requirement, but expert legal advice can help you avoid issues with structure, tax, and liability later on.

What’s the difference between a shareholder agreement and a constitution?

A constitution governs the company, while a shareholder agreement governs the relationship between shareholders - both are important and work best together.

Can I use a contract template from the internet?

It might be a starting point, but templates can leave you exposed especially if they aren’t tailored to NZ law or your specific risk.

Do I need legal advice before signing a franchise agreement?

Yes. Franchise agreements are detailed and often heavily weighted in favour of the franchisor. We can help you understand the risks, obligations, and long-term implications before you commit
